Geely Auto opens R&D center in Germany

Geely Auto will recruit 300 engineers to work on innovative technologies at a new research and development facility in Raunheim, Germany.

Geely Auto Group has officially opened a new R&D lab in Germany. Within its walls, specialists will design promising power plants, as well as develop next-generation mobility technologies.

The new Geely Auto Technical Deutschland (GATD) complex is set to employ around 300 engineers over the next few years as the company aims to expand its presence in the green and all-electric vehicle segment.

GATD will focus on developing premium electric vehicles, complementing research already underway at other Geely research institutes. In particular, at the leading Geely Research Institute in Hangzhou, as well as in other Geely centers located in the UK and Germany. Geely Auto Group now employs over 20,000 engineers, of whom more than 2,500 are involved in the study of new energy technologies.

The new research project will be led by Feng Qing Feng, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Geely Auto Group. “We are delighted to expand our R&D capabilities and look forward to taking advantage of the technical strengths of the German automotive industry. The technologies developed at GATD will accelerate the pace of development of all our brands, which continue to improve in the field of electrification, autonomy and new communication capabilities, ”commented Mr. Feng Qing Feng.
